This powerful, national event is designed to help reignite attendees’ love for chiropractic by teaching them the true power of the adjustment! Neurologically Based Chiropractic is truly THE new frontier, a fresh and vital direction for the profession, with the power to transform practices and patients’ lives forever!
Over the last 30 years, chiropractic has slowly been forced into a musculoskeletal box. Due to reimbursement models and outside forces pressuring chiropractors, we have become more focused on ancillary services and getting paid. This event will “blow your mind” with the latest research, proving once and for all exactly how powerful the chiropractic adjustment has always been! Attendees will learn how to use their “Art” more appropriately and will be energized to share it with more and more people. Everyone is sure to leave this weekend with the knowledge, passion, skills, and vocabulary to light their communities on fire for chiropractic. It is time our profession owns the reality of our impact on the brain!
Dr. Robert Melillo is co-founder and past president of the International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehab. He is an associate professor at National University of Health Sciences. He is a world-renowned expert in developmental functional neurology, brain imbalances, hemispheric integration, and the diagnosis and correction of most neurobehavioral disorders and learning disabilities. He has graduate degrees in clinical rehabilitation neuropsychology, neurology, neuroscience, and chiropractic. A prolific brain researcher, Dr. Melillo has having authored five best-selling books, including Disconnected Kids, 50 peer-reviewed papers, and a major textbook, Neurobehavioral Disorders of Childhood: An Evolutionary Perspective. His Brain Balance program has helped thousands of families across the country, offering a drug-free, scientifically based method for addressing a wide range of conditions, including autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. He has presented at numerous clinical and scientific conferences around the world and has taught his own course in a post graduate level for more than 20 years.
The purpose of this course is to vastly increase the certainty and confidence of attendees in the way of providing chiropractic care for children. Our speaker will provide in-depth training into the subluxation process and patterns in the pediatric population, through the 10D Perfect Storm model of subluxation put together by Dr. Tony Ebel. Topics of discussion include “The Perfect Storm,” the science behind the Perfect Storm, chronic stress, and illness in children (3Ts/10Ds model), and an introduction to case interpretation and management of spectrum-based disorders. This program provides exact communication and implementation training on how to provide more specific, effective care for kids — from analysis and adjusting, to care planning and case management.
The speaker for this course will discuss how to take a “Red Flag” history to help identify which of three factors – sensory-emotional-cognition – may be the prominent factor leading to a patient’s “Brain-Pain,” how to best approach each individual case, and clinical implementation steps and management protocols, including chiropractic care, for practice members based on the Bioplastic Model of Pain.
The speaker for this course will discuss the basic premise behind the Bioplastic Model of Pain and that most pain is in the brain. She will cover the current neuroscience literature and discuss how early childhood stressors will play a foundational role in laying down neurological pathways involved in chronic pain. Then, the sensory-emotional-cognition triad as the roots of chronic pain will be discussed. Finally, she will cover the current chiropractic neuroscience research and how the chiropractic adjustment can affect the “Brain-Pain” relationship.
In this seminar, our speaker will review the neuroanatomy of the brain in detail and relate it to specific pathological conduction and specific, localized treatment procedures and functional measurements. Topics of discussion include how each part of the brain correlates to networks, how the pathways of the brain conduct, how specific treatments affect specific areas of the brain and their networks, and functional measurements to determine how each area of the brain is working.
The speakers for this course will discuss how stress changes the neurocircuitry of the brain and creates negative neuroplastic change in a wide range of patients. Topics of discussion include the brainwave patterns seen in stressed out people, how stress leads to negative neuroplastic change, the Vagus Nerve and what it says about health, wellness, and disease, vibrational therapies and a demonstration of practical applications and techniques, stress in the pediatric population, therapeutic approaches, an easy-to-implement system, and more. Attendees will understand the current trends in research in brainwaves, learn cutting edge treatment strategies to affect the brain that they can immediately use in practice, and leave with an understanding of the current science supporting how chiropractic affects the brain and what else can be done to support it.
Dr. Matthew Hill is a graduate of Palmer who received the Vogt Leadership Award and the Class 172 Virgil Strang Philosophy Award while on campus. He also received the Academic Excellence Award and achiever Academic Dean’s list honors throughout his program. A Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner, he is Webster Certified through the ICPA. His clinic, PWC Chiropractic in Crystal Lake, Illinois, has a staff of five chiropractors and 14 care advocates, with the large majority of its pediatric practice focusing on neurodevelopmental and severe health challenges. Since 2020, he has served as the lead clinical guide for The Pediatric Experience, a pediatric and family online mentorship community of more than 500 chiropractors and care advocates around the world. He conducts seminars on such topics as Neuro-tonal adjusting, Neurostorm, Impact and Influence, and team leadership and systems.
Sharik Peck is the founder and CEO of Rezzimax® LLC. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Physical Therapy and later obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling from Utah State. His own history of chronic pain and his intense desire to help others with pain in their lives led him to the creation of the Rezzimax® TUNER, a handheld device that uses calibrated resonance (vibration) to fine-tune the nervous system. Since the launch of version 1.0 in early 2016, continuing with the launch of version 2.0 in late 2017, Rezzimax® is now being enjoyed by nearly 10,000 users in over 50 countries for such conditions as migraine headaches, neck and low back pain, TMJ, stress, anxiety, and more. Dr. Gia Norini is the Executive Director of the International Board of Functional Neurology. After graduating from Purdue with a Bachelor of Science degree, she attended and graduated from NUHS as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2008. She became a Certified Doula (DONA) in 2017, and a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator in 2019.
Life University graduate Dr. Dominic Fetterly has a Diplomate in Functional Neurology from the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. He is a resident of Applied Clinical Neuroscience at NeuroLIFE Institute, treating complex neurological cases on Life University’s campus. He is a faculty advisor of Life University’s functional neurology club and affiliated events.
A 1991 Life Chiropractic College-West graduate, Dr. Monika Buerger is an author and a national and international lecturer in the field of functional neurology and functional medicine. She is part of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association’s seminar program, where she offers a course on Neurosensory Integration and Sensory Processing Disorder. Due to large demand, she now offers advanced courses on the topic for chiropractors interested in caring for children with neurodevelopmental disorders. She is a certified DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) practitioner and is the founder of the Intersect4kids program, a Neurodevelopmental Certification Program for doctors. She has been in family wellness practice since 1992, first in Northern California and currently in a thriving practice in Southeastern Idaho, where she helps both children and adults regain their health through natural alternatives.
Please note: The Friday session, put on by the Interdisciplinary Association of Functional Neurosciences and Rehabilitation (IAFNR), offers four (4) hours of credit through Northwestern University of Health Sciences (NUHS) that are approved by the Commission for the Accreditation of Graduate Education in Neurology (CAGEN). These hours can be used toward advanced neuroscience-designated programs, Diplomate status, and/or Fellowship and Masters’ level credentialing.
These hours are not approved continuing education hours for license renewal in any state through the BrainWave program. However, this program is great for all DCs to attend!
